News & Magazine Elements for Elementor · version 1.0.0 · online version · support

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.2 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer
  • Elementor 3.20 or newer (the free plugin is enough; Elementor Pro is optional)
  • Any well-coded theme, for example Hello Elementor or a block theme

Installation

  1. Install and activate Elementor (free is enough).
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose paperboy.zip, then Install and Activate.
  3. Open any page with Elementor. The Paperboy group sits at the top of the widget panel.
  4. Drag a block onto the page. Post blocks fill themselves with your latest posts; use the Query controls to pick categories, tags, authors or order.

Requirements: WordPress 6.2+, PHP 7.4+, Elementor 3.20+. Paperboy works with any well-coded theme (Hello Elementor, block themes, classic themes).

The Paperboy menu

  • Overview: counts, quick start, links and system info.
  • Widgets: switch each element on or off. Switched-off elements load no CSS or JS.
  • Ads, Newsletter, Forms, Paywall, Podcast: the data screens behind those elements.
  • Templates: loop items for the Loop Grid, layouts by display conditions, custom fonts and icons.
  • Settings: General, Contact, Performance and SEO schema tabs.

Where the elements are

Edit a page with Elementor. In the widget panel the Paperboy group sits at the top; you can also type an element name in the panel search. Drag an element onto the page, then set its content in the Content tab and its look in the Style tab.

Widgets on/off

Paperboy → Widgets lists every element with a switch, a search and filters. Switch off what you do not use and click Save Changes. A switched-off element disappears from the Elementor panel and loads no CSS or JS. The Display Conditions extension is listed there too.

Ads

Paperboy → Ads → All ads: add an ad as an image with a link, or paste ad code (AdSense, GAM). Put ads into Groups to rotate them.

Placements inserts ads automatically: inside the story after paragraph N, before or after the story, and between posts. To place an ad anywhere else, drop the Ad Slot element on a page or use the shortcode. Clicks and views are counted.

Newsletter

The Newsletter element stores sign-ups as Subscribers (with double opt-in if you enable it) in Lists. Newsletter → Settings sets the confirmation email, the thank-you text and an optional webhook URL (for Zapier, Make or a CRM). You can export subscribers to CSV.

Paywall

Paperboy → Paywall sets a metered limit (free stories per month) or members-only stories, the fade height and the call-to-action box. Mark single stories as premium in the post sidebar, or place the Paywall element in a template.

Podcast

Add Episodes (audio URL or upload, duration, show notes) and group them in Shows. The Podcast Episodes element lists them with a player.

Forms

The Form Builder element saves every submission to Forms → Form entries and can email it. An optional webhook posts the answers as JSON. The login and registration elements use WordPress accounts.

Templates

  • Loop items: design your own post card with Elementor and use it in the Loop Grid element.
  • Layouts: show a header, footer, single-post or archive template built with the Site Header, Site Footer and Saved Template elements, by display conditions.
  • Custom fonts: upload .woff2/.woff files; they appear in the font lists.
  • Custom icons: upload SVG icons (cleaned on upload); they appear in the Paperboy icon pickers.

Settings

  • General: accent colours, heading and body font families, the default section-heading style, the soft card reveal.
  • Contact: newsroom email and phone (used by dynamic tags).
  • Performance: by default each page loads only the CSS and JS of the elements it uses; you can force all stylesheets on every page.
  • SEO schema: NewsArticle and BreadcrumbList structured data.

External services

Paperboy sends nothing by default and has no licence check, tracking or remote code.

  • Weather: requests forecasts from open-meteo.com (or openweathermap.org with your own API key) only on pages where you place the Weather element; results are cached.
  • Newsletter webhook and Form Builder webhook: post only to a URL you enter. Empty by default.
  • Google Fonts: loaded from Google only if you choose a Google font.

Uninstall

Deactivating Paperboy hides its elements; pages keep their Elementor data and work again when you reactivate it. Deleting the plugin does not delete your content: ads, subscribers, form entries, episodes and the paperboy_* options stay in the database, so nothing is lost by accident. Remove those items from their screens before deleting the plugin if you want a clean database.

FAQ

Do I need Elementor Pro? No. Paperboy works with the free Elementor and next to Pro.

Does it work with my theme? Yes. It is a plugin and does not depend on a theme. The demo theme is not included.

Are the demo homepages included? No. They show what you can build with the elements.

Is it translation and RTL ready? Yes. Every string is translatable (text domain paperboy) and every stylesheet has an RTL version.
